(I'm still thinking about that one.) Anyway, I tried the pattern again and realized that I was not catching the k sts under the strands (after pulling then up). I was pulling up strands, then knitting the next stitch separately. That's why I was getting extra sts.
So, about 30 mins. later, I had a nice sample of honeycomb. Thanks much.
The Zigzag is now giving me fits, but I don't think I'll use this one anyway. It takes much longer to knit and uses a lot more yarn. It is also much denser than I want for my jacket. I love the half-linen sts. and have used it before on other items. It would make a nice bottom edge for the garment. Simple and it draws attention to the other more intricate patterns.
Thanks for your help. :) - Sahara

Third strip

As I told a couple of our group members, I found a pattern that I really like in the Vogue Vol. 1 Stitchionary. Do I have to pay attention to lace patterns! Thanks, Gwen for the marker tip, but I still have trouble maintaining the number of stitches per pattern row. Somehow I am losing a stitch or two periodically. Then I have to rip out four or five rows to find the problem, but I don't find it because the yarn is like spaghetti ( all the yo's), so I have to go back to a purl row with the correct number of stitches and more or less start that section over. It is frustrating. :((
BUT I know that if no one talks to me while I'm knitting this strip, I'll get it done. I am even inspried to try a different pattern or two now. I just have to build in "alone time" to do it.
I am using the vine lace pattern for one strip and am thinking about using the zig-zag pattern for another strip...
As soon as I get my future grand daughter's sweater finished, I'll start on another one of these kimonos in a shorter style.
